A weekend of shopping... with no money

Chello! How is everyone out there doing today? I hope your having the best day ever. I'm just starting to feel better after being sick for the past few weeks. Being sick has nothing to do with this post, but I don't care. Anyways, A few weeks ago in the middle of December a couple of people came to visit some of the girls I work with. It was cool for me because I got to kinda join in on the exploration with them. This is what we saw.

Myeongdong
Within the first couple of days we went to a place called Myeongdong. This place was pretty cool. It's mainly for shopping, which I really have no interest in, but it was still an interesting place to see. Tons of people walk around here. It is street after street of small shops and street vendors, with a few big stores sprinkled in. Anyone who likes to shop would love this place. Me and the only other guy I was with enjoyed walking around for a bit, and then we got some leisure time inside of the local Starbucks. The girls shopped for hours without taking a break.

Insadong subway station
The next day we went to an awesome place called Insadong. This is a place were you pretty much shop some more. The great thing about Insadong is that the things being sold are more interesting. It's chalked full of antique shops, souvenir shops, art galleries, and restaurants. Above is a picture of the wall you would see before getting off the subway. Each tile has art from a different kid. The wall is actually much bigger, but I figured it would be nicer to see a smaller portion of the thing.

Insadong

This is Insadong itself. It's shop after shop of little trinkets that you can buy. after walking down the street for about five or ten minutes you run into a few art galleries. There are also a lot of allies that have more shops and a bunch of restaurants. From what I was told there is an art college somewhere close to this place. Because of this you find more hand made items being sold here. You also see people drawing caricatures and singing songs. It is a really fun place to walk around. The coolest part is the kind of out door mall thing that they have, which I will show you next.

Top level
So this outdoor mall is great. It is connected to the street that I showed you a picture of earlier. Once again it is mainly shops that sell little trinket. There are a few odd shops here and there. On the bottom level it looked like they were wither having a book drive or selling books, can't really tell you what was happening. If you noticed each level is connected by ramps. Actually the entire thing is one big ramp. There are stairs, but they are kind of hidden. The great thing about this place is that it is very artsy. Let's see some more pictures, yeah?

One of the stairwells

One of the cement walls

The top level of the mall. Five stories up.
Even the storm drains were painted
So those are the pictures of a cooler parts of the mall. The stair wells had bad as paintings and big roses inside of them. There was writing all over every cement wall. If the wall was made of cement it had writing on it. As long as you had a sharpie you could put your own piece on the wall. My favorite pic is the one of the top level, because that little walkway was randomly there and no one else was on it. We also met a Korean boy band...

AA
In the end going to both of these places was pretty fun. I got to see a bunch of cool things, and make new friends. Anyways, that's about all I have to say about these two places. I want to say thanks to all me friends that let me tag along on the shopping adventure. My next post should be about the cat cafe. You guys will love the cat cafe. Have a great day people! Peace!

Extra pics! These are pics of the park that is next to a place I shop at all the time. Enjoy!
